Beautifully preserved Mosasaurus Beaugei tooth!
Species: Mosasaurus Beaugei
Age: 66 million years; late Cretaceous
Location: Morocco; Kem-Kem beds
The Mosasaurs were the apex predators of the cretaceous seas. They evolved during the cretaceous period from reptiles similar to modern day monitor lizards. Soon they took over the seas with the holotype species Mosasaurus Hoffmanni reaching sizes of up to 18 meters! Mosasaurs were perfectly adapted for the shallow, warm seas of the western interior seaway in the modern day United States or the shores of modern day northern Africa. Their sizes differed from only around 1 meter to up to almost 20 meters in some cases. The teeth of Mosasaurs were perfectly adapted for their predatory lifestyle. They were imbedded deep in their jaws and would on occasion shed as to allow a new tooth to take the old ones place! This wonderful tooth with enamel preservation could be yours today! Hand prepped by myself!
