Sigillaria is a genus of tree-like plants that thrived all througout the carboniferous period. They reproduced via spores as many plants did back then. It evolved in the middle devonian and survived through the carboniferous up into the early periman, where it soon met its end. It was closely related to another tree-like plant from the time called Lepidodendron and is more distantly related to modern quillworts. They could grow between 30-50 meters tall and usually had a non forked, straight trunk. The bark resembles scales, which is why it is a highly praised fossil for ones collection!
